Patti Gutiérrez, founder & owner of Patti’s Catholic Corner

Catholic Spanish Translations is a service provided by Patti’s Catholic Corner founded by Patti (Murphy) Gutierrez. Born in Maine of French-Canadian and Irish roots, Patti has lived in Kentucky since she was 13. Her love of languages, cultures and ministry stems from the opportunity she had to go on missionary trips to Latin America during high school and while attending St. Louis University. After graduation, Patti served as a volunteer with Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador where she learned Spanish. Since returning to Kentucky in 2003, she dedicated herself to helping the Diocese of Owensboro serve the Hispanic/Latino community at the diocesan and parish level, always learning on the job.

She is married to Deacon Chris Gutiérrez, born in Los Angeles and raised in Jalisco, Mexico. Chris is the current Diocesan Director of Hispanic/Latino Ministry of the Diocese of Owensboro. They have 6 children ranging from 3 to 16 years old and 6 more children in heaven. In 2018, as their family & Chris’ ministry grew, Patti transitioned out of direct ministry and began her own company, Patti’s Catholic Corner, providing translation and consulting services. Over the years, some of her projects have included: hosting the Gente Puente podcast sharing Hispanic Ministry Best Practices, serving on the V Encuentro Communications team (2018-2024), being Content Manager for the USCCB’s Por Tu Matrimonio website (2021-2023), serving on the writing team of the USCCB’s National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministry (2022-2023), translating and consulting for many Catholic dioceses, religious communities and organizations, as well as teaching Intercultural Competencies and Best Practices through online courses and in the Gente Puente Café. The podcast is currently on hold and the Café is closed for now. Outside of translation projects, Patti spends her time juggling family life and is currently working on her Masters in Pastoral Theology.
